Faq's
I know you probably have a million questions or maybe you have none, because you don’t know what you should be asking!
So, I’ve put together a few questions that are pretty popular, but honestly, I highly recommend we have a chat, in person or on a video call and everything will become crystal clear.
We also get to see if we are the perfect match, no salesy pressure from me, I promise.
What needs to happen before we can be married by you?
The first thing we need to complete is a Notice of Intention to Marry, I will usually email this to you to be completed by us in person or over a video call. This must be completed and in my possession one month prior to your wedding date for a legal ceremony to take place, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
I will also need to sight ID, so a passport which will cover everything, or alternatively birth certificates and photo ID. I will also need to see legal paperwork if you have been married before.
Where can we get married?
I can marry you anywhere in Australia at any time. I’m more than happy for you to fly me to up North or over to the West, please do!
I can marry you in a park, by the lake, at a winery, the local pub, at your house or at a stunning venue, pretty much anywhere you can think of – bucket list would be a hot air balloon please.
We are spoilt for choice here in Northeast Victoria, so if this area is where you have chosen to marry, again, I am happy to share my local knowledge with you.
How far in advance should I book a celebrant/ favourite vendor?
I suggest as soon as you book a date and a location you should be locking in all your favourite vendors, including me – your favourite celebrant!
My books are open up to two years in advance, peak wedding dates book out early and we’d hate for you to miss out.
If you need help with vendors I know and love, please ask, I love being a cheerleader for other small businesses.
How do I know you’re qualified?
Go to https://marriage.ag.gov.au/commonwealthcelebrants/all
Enter my name, pretty sure I’m the only Savy, and voila! You’ll be able to see that I am listed in the Register of Marriage Celebrants and am legally allowed to get you two hitched!
What happens if I am sick?
I am currently touching wood as this has never happened to me in two hundred or so weddings. However, I did have to hand over a wedding during Covid when I wasn’t allowed over the border, grrrr!
I have a fabulous network of celebrants who I can fall back on and would be very confident of, should the worst happen.
Do you travel?
Oh yes, I do! I love a good road trip – A bag of Allens lollies, a coke zero, favourite music up loud, and I’m happy.
Further details can be found in my packages but being a regional celebrant, you will find there’s quite a few km’s included in each package.
Do you bring your own PA?
I certainly do, although I have a voice that I am told projects very well…. We do need to make sure everyone can hear and enjoy the ceremony. This can also be used for ceremony music, ask for more details.
I use a Mipro 505 and have access to a second unit if that should be required for very large weddings.
Do you do rehearsals?
I don’t often do rehearsals but if it is possible, depending on other commitments I may have, (another wedding for example) I am happy to attend. This may entail travel fees depending on location.
I do send through a rehearsal run through sheet so that you can rehearse without me if you wish to, and once we are all up the front, I will be your wingman, you wont have to worry, I promise.
How long will a ceremony go for?
Writing personal vows, do you help?
Writing and/ or saying personal vows seems to be one of the most anxiety inducing parts of a ceremony, and I totally understand.
Let me start by saying you do not have to include personal vows in your ceremony, but I would love for you to keep an open mind before you say no thank you, not for us.
I have lots of resources and many ways to help you which we can chat about.
Do you have a certain style to your ceremonies?
My style of ceremony is warm, inclusive, relaxed and light-hearted.
I really want your ceremony to be the beginning of a fabulous celebration, after all that is the reason everyone is here.
I want people to feel the love you two share, see your personalities shine through, and be excited to be a part of your wedding day from amazing start to fabulous finish.
I really encourage you to read some of my reviews, which I’m very proud of, as these have been written by couples just like you two.
